Contributing to our ongoing drive to support local communities, Team Apogee volunteered for a day at charity Green Synergy.
Based just a short distance from Apogee’s National Operations Centre in Lincoln, Green Synergy is a gardening and horticulture charity that supports people to socialise, learn, and thrive by bringing communities together.
The volunteering day began with an introduction to the team’s tasks from site manager Anna, along with an overview of the amazing work Green Synergy do – from providing mental health programmes, to engaging with local children to support their early learning.
The team were tasked with cutting back vegetation to establish a new coppice area for hazel and willow, weeding, mulching, digging up deep rooted vegetation, as well as fence sanding and painting.
“The benefits of mental and physical health are often entwined and this was very much the case yesterday.
We all felt that we were making a huge difference and it was an immensely rewarding experience; to be able to look back at the end of the day and see all of the good work and progress made was very humbling.
I very much hope we get the opportunity to return again soon and see what further developments have been made at this awesome site."
